More Sports and New partners Join NativeWaves at IBC 2023

In an industry first, NativeWaves integrates the most common streaming protocols LL-HLS, HESP, and webRTC to cover all use cases for mobile, in-venue, and the living room into a single framework.

Salzburg, Austria. August 24, 2023: Sports broadcasters and streaming services who want to enhance the viewing experience for their sports offering should visit booth 5.A.41 at IBC 2023, where NativeWaves will be showcasing its latest NativeWaves EXP experiences. Additionally, NativeWaves will also showcase their In-venue experiences at the show built in collaboration with partner Synamedia.

Already available for multiple sports and entertainment events, NativeWaves EXP gives audiences the opportunity to dive deeper into the action by exploring a wealth of additional content, at their leisure.

Powered by a dedicated low-latency streaming platform coupled with a highly customizable experience framework, NativeWaves EXP can be applied to numerous types of content, programming, and live events. Viewers choosing an enhanced event-centric experience on their Smart TV, smartphones, and tablets, or mirrored to their TVs, can access additional content such as different camera angles, audio tracks, instant replays, and social media integration. NativeWaves EXP can also be used and configured as a second screen experience that complements the main TV screen by offering additional personalized content and data on the mobile screen – all perfectly synchronized to the main screen via the audio without requiring watermarking of the original broadcast audio signal.

NativeWaves EXP is available now for easy integration into existing broadcast and OTT streaming ecosystems. Various business models are available to suit the needs of different broadcasters. Partners that have already tested the NativeWaves EXP experience include brands such as Red Bull Media House, ProSiebenSat.1, TVN Warner Bros Discovery, Sportdigital, and has been extensively adopted by B1SmartTV’s Sportworld app, which is available on Samsung Smart TVs worldwide, and on mobile devices.

At IBC 2023, visitors will also get to experience the NativeWaves solution on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) booth 5.C90. This demo will showcase how low-latency streaming can be used to deliver a perfectly synced second screen experience. NativeWaves uses its patented audio sync technology to sync the mobile device with the broadcast on the main screen.

NativeWaves has also developed in-venue multiview experiences with partner Synamedia. This solution uses low latency HTTP based streaming to deliver NativeWaves EXP to fans LIVE with features such as instant replays. A demo of this solution can be seen at the Synamedia meeting room (1.BS21 an 1.BS22), or on the NativeWaves booth.

5G installations in sports venues are increasing and with it are the possibilities of delivering new fan experiences. The NativeWaves EXP in-venue experiences will allow content rights holders to deliver enhanced fan experiences such as accessing multiple camera angles, data and analytics, instant replays of key events from the camera of their choice and other advanced features such as gamification and e-commerce from the comfort of their seat or as they freely move around the venue. As leagues are fighting to keep the fans coming through the gates, delivering an enhanced fan experience will go a long way in not just driving revenue but also in extending and deepening fan engagement with the team and the club.

“We are anticipating a very busy IBC show and we certainly have plenty to talk about,” says NativeWaves CEO Christof Haslauer. “Apart from the NativeWaves booth, we are showcasing our technology on the Amazon Web Services booth, and with Synamedia, as well as on the Content Everywhere stages at IBC. We are also introducing new features to our NativeWaves Cloud content management system which includes a brand-new console that enables automated scheduling of multiple events and orchestration of multiview events.  These are exciting times for the company and IBC gives us the perfect platform to connect with new and existing customers and highlight the projects and technological developments we have been working on in recent months.”
