London, United Kingdom, 27th March 2024 — The London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art (LAMDA) has announced a significant investment in state-of-the-art audio equipment, with the procurement of the award-winning Shure Axient Digital Wireless System. This move ensures that the next generation of theatre audio technicians and designers at LAMDA have access to world-class audio technology.

LAMDA, renowned as a world-class conservatoire, is committed to providing exceptional vocational training courses, offering an innovative and inspiring environment where students can acquire the professional skills needed to pursue successful careers in acting.

Supplied through Shure UK by Autograph Sound, the new inventory includes 20 channels of Shure’s flagship Axient Digital Wireless system. The setup features Axient Digital ADX1M Micro Bodypack transmitters, AD4QNP quad receivers, an antenna distribution system, active directional antenna plus battery charging modules and stations.

The recommendation of Shure Axient Digital Wireless System by Autograph Sound is backed by their own extensive use of the systems in their hire department, whose inventory includes well over 600 channels in daily use throughout the West End, nationally and on tour. That real world first hand knowledge and experience of Shure’s class-leading technology gives the company an unrivalled repository of knowledge and expertise when recommending, supplying and commissioning Shure Axient Digital Wireless System.

Will Cottrell, Autograph’s lead for the LAMDA project expressed, “The system we configured for LAMDA will be utilised for the numerous in-house shows they produce annually. They have formerly rented, and by investing in their own equipment, LAMDA aims to reduce long-term costs. They will use various configurations of Shure Axient Digital Wireless System according to the needs of the show, providing students with valuable hands-on experience with industry-standard technology. With some assistance from our friends at Shure UK we were able to deliver a modular system within their budget that can easily be expanded in the future if requirements and budget allow.”

Cottrell concludes, “Autograph traditionally maintains close relationships with most performing arts schools in the UK and supporting and nurturing the next generation of technical talent is very close to our hearts. That being so, we were delighted to also run a full day’s training for a group of LAMDA students to give them the best possible head start.”

Shure’s UK Sales Manager Peppe Mallozzi emphasised, “At Shure we recognise the importance of supporting students in the early stages of their careers. Autograph shares this vision, and together we are dedicated to equipping students with the tools they need to succeed. With Shure Axient Digital Wireless System being widely used in the industry, LAMDA’s investment in Shure was the natural choice, aligning perfectly with industry standards, ensuring students are well-prepared for the professional world.”

Chris Drohan, LAMDA’s Lead Practitioner (Technical) Sound comments, “With the introduction of LAMDA’s new Musical Theatre MA Course, it was a great time to invest in a radio mic system for the future. Having explored a number of options, we were impressed with the Axient Digital Wireless System that Shure offers, for its reliability, sound quality and user-friendly nature in a student environment. The support from both Autograph and Shure through the planning process has been excellent and the system we have ended up with has already proven its worth on our public performances.”

The partnership between LAMDA, Shure, and Autograph underscores a commitment to excellence in education and the development of future industry professionals in the field of sound design and technology.
