IABM has announced the promotion of Darren Whitehead to the position of Director of Sales and Marketing. In his new, expanded role, Whitehead will be responsible for the strategies, activities and performance of all IABM sales, marketing and market development activities. Working closely with the CEO and other senior staff to craft dynamic new strategies for the organization, Whitehead’s brief includes harmonizing sales and marketing activities to enhance all communications. In addition, Whitehead will continue to coordinate the activities of Regional Members’ Councils.

As part of his new brief, Whitehead will also be driving new initiatives that help IABM members do better business – the international trade organization’s raison d’être. As the Broadcast and Media technology market matures, IABM members are increasingly looking to adjacent markets for growth opportunities, particularly in the Enterprise AV sector, which has grown rapidly and now uses all the same technology and tools that were previously the reserve of broadcasters.

“I am genuinely excited to take up this new role,” said Whitehead. “IABM exists to help our members grow their business; this is true whether it is in or outside of Broadcast and Media. My priority is to ensure we align our efforts with those of our members so that the relevance of what we offer resonates across multiple vertical sectors.

“There are exciting opportunities for growth out there, and we will concentrate on activities and services that introduce our members to these new opportunities. They already have the right products and services, but new approaches and strategies are needed to enter these markets. We have already begun this with the launch of UpStream last year in conjunction with Avixa and a member lounge at ISE this year, and we are supporting two further UpStream events this year. All of this while, of course, continuing to support members with our full range of services in the Broadcast and Media industry,” Whitehead concluded.

“Bringing together all our sales, marketing and communication activities under Darren’s leadership will be hugely beneficial both within IABM itself and for all our members,” said Jerry Gepner, CEO at IABM. “Darren has an innate understanding of the challenges technology vendors face though his many years’ experience working with all aspects of the Broadcast and MediaTech industry, and has the drive and ambition to take IABM to the next level, helping to deliver better business for all our members.”
